Rocket Rumble at Cockburn Gateway: a school holiday activation that drew a crowd

In the April school holidays, Ground Zero Gaming partnered with Cockburn Gateway Shopping City to deliver Rocket Rumble — a free, school-holiday-friendly activation built around Rocket League, with extra hands-on experiences to keep kids (and big kids) engaged.

The goal was simple: create an interactive hub that draws a crowd, keeps people involved, and gives families a reason to stay longer.

What we delivered

  • Free-to-play Rocket League on Xbox in a walk-up format

  • A real-life Rocket League moment using remote control cars (Hot Wheels Rocket League RC Rivals)

  • A kid-friendly colouring-in station to keep younger visitors involved

  • On-floor staff to manage check-in, session flow, and participant support

Want a holiday activation that actually moves the needle?

Rocket Rumble shows what’s possible when gaming is delivered with the right structure: clear session flow, strong presentation, and a format that works for walk-ups.

If you’re planning a school holiday program and want an activation that’s easy to run and hard to ignore, reach out via our contact page and we’ll map out a concept for your space.
